The three BIWPA flagship tournaments are back in 2021

29/01/2021

Dates confirmed and pre-registration period is open for all three events

After a 2020 without tournaments due to the coronavirus, Barcelona International Water Polo Academy (BIWPA) has confirmed that there will be new editions of Beach Polo, Barcelona Cup and Masters Cup this year, provided that the health situation allows it.

Despite the fact that the three events will remain in suspense for a while, BIWPA has decided to announce dates and open a flexible pre-registration with the main objective of making a forecast in light of the uncertain moment in which the world is.

Teams will be able to reserve their space in a comfortable and flexible way by filling out a form that will not involve any payment until the celebration of the tournament is viable.

In August, beach water polo

BIWPA's tournament season will kick off in Palamos with a fourth edition of Beach Polo full of new features. All these changes had already been planned for 2020, but given the cancelation, the organization's intention is to push out the same idea to 2021.

"We can't wait to roll out all the new ideas that we came up with for last year's edition, such as the sunset party on the second day of the event and the night All-star game with fireworks and lighting," says the Project Manager Joel Esteller.

The tournament is scheduled for the last weekend of August, 27 to 29.

Fifth anniversary of the Barcelona Cup

The Barcelona Cup will return in September, from the 2nd until the 5th. The international tournament is meant for 17u men's and senior women's teams as the best way to start off the new season.

It will be the fifth edition of an event that will maintain its usual venue, the breathtaking Montjuic Olympic pools. Teams will enjoy four intense days of high-level games with local, national and international sides.

The Masters Cup is back

After the resounding success of the Master Cup's first edition in 2019, with over 20 teams from 10 different countries, the tournament moves to the Montjuic Olympic pools to offer all masters teams the best environment to enjoy water polo.

"In addition to competing at such an iconic facility, we will set up an area around the pool where all participants will be able to rest, have a drink and relax with music all day long," Esteller explains.

The tournament will take place from September 10 to 12.
