BIWPA launches its first artistic swimming camp with the mixed duet of the Spanish national team

05/05/2021

From July 19 to 23 in Barcelona, with Emma García and Pau Ribes as promoters

Apart from the water polo camps, Barcelona International Water Polo Academy (BIWPA) will organize the summer of 2021 its first ever artistic swimming camp. For this event, BIWPA has partnered with Emma García and Pau Ribes, mixed duet of the Spanish artistic swimming team.

The camp is aimed at boys and girls passionate about artistic swimming, from 10 to 16 years old. It will take place at the amazing Montjuic Municipal swimming pools, in Barcelona. The program includes two daily sessions in the water and several workshops to focus on aspects such as makeup, suit customization, music and improvisation.

Participants will be put into groups according to their age and level. Besides artistic swimming, campers will be able to enjoy different leisure activities, a day trip to PortAventura Park.

The artistic swimming camp will be at the same time as the last week of the BIWPA water polo camp, so campers from both disciplines will be able to share some experiences together.

Top level staff

Emma García and Pau Ribes are the two visible faces of a camp that aims to break taboos, promote a genderless sport and open the doors of artistic swimming also to the male public.

Ribes is the male pioneer in Spanish artistic swimming and has already achieved some remarkable successes such as two bronze medals in the European Championships in London 2016 and Glasgow 2018. Together with his duet partner Emma, they achieved the 5th place in the Gwangju World Championships and the silver medal in the European Cup in Saint Petersburg. With her team, Garcia won the bronze medal at the Glasgow Europeans.

Participants will be able to learn directly from the mixed duet, as they will be present every day of the camp. The training sessions will be led by Clara Balaguer, with seven years of experience as a swimmer and three years coaching at Club Natació Sabadell.
