Welcome to BIWPA's Summer Academy - California edition. Our premier summer water polo program arrives in the US to offer the best Spanish professional training.
Immerse yourself in one of the world's most renowned training methodologies, a system that has catapulted Spanish water polo to the pinnacle of success. This is an intense program focused on individual technical and tactical skills, fundamentals, and decision-making.

Goalie specific training
This high-performance program includes specific work for goalies interested in developing their skills. The training for goalies will be led by Paula Nieto, currently playing D1 water polo at Fresno State.

About the facility
Mt. Sac Aquatics Complex
Opened in spring 2023 and has just become the brand new training hub for U.S. Men's Olympic Water Polo Team

Coaching staff
Led by BIWPA pro coaches and assisted by enthusiastic, skilled coaches
Head Coach Club Natació Sabadell in Spanish Honor Division. Currently competing in LEN Champions League. Has coached at the highest level for more than 30 years.
Quim Colet
Sports Director
Head Coach BIWPA Academy in Barcelona, +15 years of coaching experience for several Spanish teams at national level.
Yuri Colet
Head Coach
Head Coach Portugal Women's National team. Pro player in Spanish Honor Division and +15 years of coaching experience.
Ferran Pascual
Head Coach
A senior at Fresno State, is the starting goalkeeper for the water polo team. From Málaga, Spain, she has also played professionally in Spain and Portugal.
Paula Nieto
Goalie Coach
Spent three seasons playing in Spain, Doherty has led teams to a NJO Championship and a Sunset League Championship, and earned First-Team All-American honors as a player.
Kelly Doherty
Assistant Coach
As a player, he was a 1997 CIF champion and competed in D1 at Pepperdine University. As a coach, he's a 2x CIF champion and co-founded Foothill Club WP in 2005.
